How to read a comparison

Yield tells you what you are paid today, growth tells you how that payment has changed, and the schedule tells you when it arrives. A stock with a lower yield and faster growth can pay more than a high-yield stock after some years, which is what the projection shows. But the projection only repeats the numbers you see: it does not know about debt, competition or a bad year.

Comparing a stock with an ETF is fine, but remember they are different things. An ETF holds many companies and spreads risk, while one stock depends on one business. For hand-written comparisons with more context, browse our comparison pages.
