Editorial Policy

How we research, write, check and update our guides, calculators and profiles, and how to tell us when we get something wrong.

What we publish

DividendCalc.org publishes free calculators, plain-English guides, a glossary and short profiles of well-known companies, ETFs and crypto assets. Everything on the site is written for education. We are not an investment adviser, broker or financial planner, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell a security. See the Investment Disclaimer.

How we write

  • Plain language first. We define terms, use round-number examples and show the arithmetic so you can check it yourself.
  • No promises. We do not predict returns, price targets or dividend payments, and we say so when an example is only an illustration.
  • No stock picking. Profiles describe how a business or fund works and what to watch. They are not "buy" or "sell" ratings.
  • Risks sit next to benefits. A high yield, a long dividend streak or a popular fund is never presented without its limits.

Sources and fact-checking

Facts about companies, funds and assets are compiled from public sources such as company and fund-issuer websites, index providers and reference works, and are then written in our own words. Our aim is to check every factual claim against a source before publishing and to link to the source where it helps you verify it.

Some facts change quickly. Share prices, yields, fees, market capitalisation and rankings are deliberately not hard-coded into our profile text. Live prices and charts come from TradingView widgets and may be delayed. For anything that affects a decision, such as a fund's current fee or a company's current dividend, check the issuer's own website.

How our calculators work

Our calculators use standard, transparent formulas (for example, yield equals annual dividend divided by share price, and compound growth uses the usual compounding formula). They are simplified models: unless a calculator says otherwise, they ignore taxes, fees, inflation and changes in price or dividends. They use the numbers you enter, not live market data, and the results are estimates, not forecasts.

Updates and corrections

Each guide shows its publication date, and an "Updated" date when we have materially revised it. If you find a factual error, an out-of-date figure or a broken calculation, please email hello@dividendcalc.org with the page address and what you found. We correct confirmed errors promptly and note significant changes on the page.

Independence and affiliates

Editorial decisions are made independently of advertisers and partners. Some links on the site may be affiliate links, which can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. They never change what we write about a product. Profiles of companies, funds and crypto assets are not sponsored. Read the full Affiliate Disclosure.
