A long record is a good sign, not a promise

A company that raised its dividend every year through recessions, rate rises and a pandemic has shown it values the payment and can afford it. That is why lists such as Dividend Aristocrats and Dividend Kings are so popular.

This page looks back at most ten years, so “9+ years” means at least nine increases in a row inside that window. Many of these companies have much longer records, which you can read about on their profiles and on the Aristocrats and Kings pages.

What a streak cannot tell you

Past increases do not guarantee future ones. A long streak can end when profits fall, and a company can keep a streak alive with tiny increases while the real value of the payment shrinks. Look at the growth rate and the payout ratio too.
